Common Questions associated with drainage:
Do I need a pop-up or french drain installation?
If you have flooding issues or erosion problem along your foundation, it is likely due to water being released too close to your home. This could be caused by a multitude of problems such as the existing grade is pitching towards the home, downspouts and/or sump is releasing water too close to home, or your gutters and downspouts may be clogged.
What is a French Drain?
Installation of french drains are primarily used to prevent ground and surface water from damaging building foundations. It can also be used to get rid of standing water in low grades of lawn or in ditches. French drains are installed by trenching areas up to 2’ deep, installing up to 14” of ¾” stone, and backfilling with topsoil.
Pop-Up Drains
Installing pop-up drains for your downspouts and sump pumps is recommended for every home. For best results, we recommend diverting water at least 10 feet away from your home. Some owners use extension piping that is above ground but still does the trick. It is not that appealing and becomes a hassle when you have to move it every week for lawn mowing. Underground pop-up drains solve these issues while still diverting water away from your home safely and efficiently. After the piping is installed, we install a pop-emitter that releases water at the end of the pipe. The pop-up emitter will release once the pipe is full of water. We can install 4” corrugated drain tile or 4” PVC drain piping. The corrugated drain tile is a cheaper alternative but is not as durable as PVC piping. All drains are sloped away from home to ensure water stays away from your foundation.
